I am a qualified solicitor and have practised purely Family Law for over 23 years, I continue to work as a solicitor whilst also practising as a mediator.
During my time as a solicitor I have always been a member of Resolution, their ethos is to ensure that all of its members work in a non-confrontational way with an aim to resolve issues in a constructive manner.

WeCare about trying to help your family restore communication and trust so that you can reach a resolution that is enduring.
Family mediation is for couples who have decided to separate or have been separated for a while but there are changes or developments that may mean the current arrangements no longer work and need to be revisited or just to discuss parenting.
WeCare about helping married, co-habiting, same-sex couples and parents who have made a decision to go their separate ways. Also WeCare about grandparents and extended family members who are also sometimes affected by the breakdown in a relationship involving their grandchild(ren), niece or nephew for example.
On separation, it is important for children to see that both their parents/carers will continue to have a loving and caring place in their lives.
As a solicitor I have extensive experience in resolving financial disputes on behalf of my clients I am therefore fully versed as a Mediator in helping you sort out property and financial affairs particularly where there may be businesses and/or pensions involved.
A Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting or MIAM (is often how it is usually abbreviated) is the first meeting that you will have with a Mediator; it is for you to find out more about mediation so that you can decide if it is the correct forum in which to try and resolve your matter.
The meeting also allows a Mediator to consider what you have to say and also decide if mediation is the appropriate way forward.
The meeting usually lasts between 30 - 45 minutes, on this occasion only you can be accompanied by a friend or relative.
At this stage the other person will not be present they will be invited to a separate MIAM meeting.
